PA Tax Credit Program Supports Mission At The Glen Mills Schools

Glen Mills, PA – Representatives from Philadelphia Insurance Companies (PHLY), headquartered in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania, presented a check for $10,500 to The Glen Mills Schools in Delaware County through Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program.

The program is a way for businesses to enrich educational opportunities for students and earn tax credits by donating to an Educational Improvement Organization and/or Scholarship Organizations and/or Pre-K Scholarship Organizations. Through EITC, eligible businesses can receive tax credits equal to 75 percent of their contribution, up to $750,000 per taxable year. The tax credit may be increased to 90 percent of the contribution if the business agrees to provide the same amount for two consecutive tax years.

Philadelphia Insurance Regional Vice President Kevin McCabe said “we are thrilled to be able to provide support for schools like Glen Mills through the Pennsylvania EITC program, adding one of PHLY’s missions is to make an impact in our community and Glen Mills shares that same vision.” McCabe said “after meeting some of the students at

Glen Mills, I can see firsthand how lives are being changed for the better.”

Glen Mills Executive Director Dr. Randy Ireson said “we are grateful to Philadelphia Insurance Companies for their partnership and generous EITC gift. We are determined to give our students opportunities here at Glen Mills Schools and this support helps give our students the educational opportunities they need.”

The money will be used for educational programs at The Glen Mills Schools which has been designated as an Educational Improvement Organization.

Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit program was created in 2001. Since its inception, more than $900 million has gone to private school stipends, public school programs and non-profits that offer education programs.
